Leo

Hiya my friends,

What a lapse in blogs! There are complex reasons for this, most of which I won't bore you with.

Just after my last blog, dh and I had to make the decision to part forever with our dear problem-beagle, Leo. He had been failing for a time, but that doesn't lessen the profound sadness making and living with this decision has caused.

I can't bear, even now, to relate the often difficult story of our lives together for ten and a half years, but I'd like to share this remembrance of the little guy and a picture of Leo.

Leo was always a problem dog, and maybe that's why
we loved him so much.

He is resting in a small meadow, at the convergence of
animal trails.

Leo was a lover of:
anchovies
belly tickles
butt scratches
long walks
the soft green grass of Maine
holding his nose to the breeze the better to decipher its scents
turning his belly to the sun while lying under the lilac tree
other dogs
children
riding in the car
climbing into DH's lap on cold nights
our comfort during thunderstorms
and...of...the three of us.

Today, the sun is warm, the grass still green and soft and a gentle
breeze is blowing.

As I told him every night when he was with us, "Have a good sleep, little guy"
